Dr. SSBUICET proudly celebrated Engineers' Day, an occasion dedicated to honoring the contributions of engineers to society. The event featured Prof. Shantanu Bhattacharya, Director CSIO-CSIR, Chandigarh, as the Chief Guest and keynote speaker, Prof. Rumina Sethi, Dean University Instruction, Panjab University, presiding over the festivities.

The celebration brought together students and faculty of Dr. SSBUICET, along with five visiting students from Yokohama National University, Japan who were visiting Panjab University under the SXIP exchange program. Prof. Anupama Sharma, Chairperson, Dr. SSBUICET, welcomed the guests and underscored the significance of Engineers Day in the ongoing pursuit of sustainability. She emphasized that engineers play a crucial role in addressing contemporary challenges, particularly in relation to sustainable development.

In her address, Prof. Rumina Sethi highlighted the importance of maintaining an artistic spirit within engineering. She argued that while engineering is fundamentally based on technical knowledge and problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation are equally essential. By nurturing an artistic perspective, engineers can tackle challenges with a holistic vision, integrating design, aesthetics, and human-centered solutions into their work.

Prof. Rumina Sethi’s remarks resonated with the audience, reinforcing the idea that engineering is not merely a technical discipline but also an art form that requires imagination and creativity. The keynote lecture, delivered by Prof. Shantanu Bhattacharya, provided an insightful exploration of "Biosensors and Microfluidics." He illuminated the applications of biosensors and microfluidics in various fields, including healthcare, diagnostics, and environmental monitoring. His presentation emphasized the potential of these innovations to revolutionize industries globally.

He also discussed recent advancements in the field, particularly the development of portable and efficient diagnostic tools. He illustrated how these innovations are paving the way for more accessible healthcare solutions and enabling precise real-time monitoring across various sectors. The event concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Gaurav Verma, Coordinator for the event.
